I don’t know how many of you watched the Oprah Oscars special today but I was disappointed.  I liked Sean Penn, but that was about it.  Oprah has gotten really fat and it was hard to watch, but aside from that the show was a weak one.  I was especially disappointed by AR Rahman.  This guy has just taken Hollywood by storm accomplishing the unaccomplishable (is that a word??) and the next day he comes out with little energy or enthusiasm.  For gods sake you are on Oprah.  Act excited.  Jump on a sofa or something and tell the world how much you can’t believe this is happening to you.   In addition to his weak energy, they did the same Jai Ho dance they did at the Oscars on Oprah’s show.  Didn’t I just see that dance?  You guys had the same sequence, the same outfits, and the exact same moves.  Repeating things may work in Bollywood movies but it doesn’t work in the US.  You need to be more creative show and more enthusiasm.  Was it just me or were those two Desi girls singing on stage with AR Rahman just horrible singers?  At times their voices were unbearable (read cracking).  I’m in love with Slumdog Millionaire and have ‘Jai Ho’ on repeat on my iPod, but come on guys, don’t come out on the Oprah and half ass it.
