Slumdog Kids Get Out Of Slums
The child stars, Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Ismail, who were plucked out of their daily Mumbai slum life to star in the wildly successful Slumdog Millionaire have been given new homes in Mumbai by the head of the state run housing. “These two children have brought laurels to the country, and we have been told that they live in slums, which cannot even be classified as housing,” Gautum Chatterjee went on to say. This is a great PR move by India that could have turned ugly if this action was not taken. If these kids remained in the slum after obtaining global stardom, how would this look on India. Bad! These kids plight was quickly becoming headlines in every major newspaper around the world. Now how about finding homes for the millions of other slumdog kids who weren’t lucky enough to become movie stars? Its time for India to step up and create a solution for a growing epidemic. People living way below the poverty line!
